Lake Como ticks all the boxes of things travelers are looking for on a romantic vacation to Italy. A sparkling lake nestled by snowcapped mountains? Check. Elegant villas? Check. Endless places to sip wine and slurp pasta with a view? Triple check. So in a destination as fabulous as this, it’s only natural to have equally high expectations for your accommodations.
Enter the Hilton Lake Como. Just about a year old, the Hilton has taken an old silk factory and refurbished it into 170-room property with sleek lounge areas, three restaurants and (of course) breathtaking views of the lake. It somehow strikes the perfect balance between classy and comfortable, making you feel right at home as soon as you enter the lobby.
When it comes to making use of its vast space (the Hilton is the largest hotel in the area), the property has done a lot of things right. Hilton converted the the long hallways of the horseshoe-shaped building into informal art galleries, with vintage photos of life on the lake in crisp black and white. The floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights in the luxurious “Glass Cube” lounge let natural light flood the space, creating an ambience that immediately beckons you to grab a book and cozy up against the jewel-toned pillows on the dozen or so couches. (It’s like the living room of your dreams!)
But the most magnificent part of the Hilton Lake Como is its rooftop space. It’s got a hot tub and arguably the best infinity pool in all of Italy, with panoramic views of Lake Como that beat anything you’d see on a postcard. The vistas and chic space make it all too easy to spend the entire day sunbathing and splashing around the pool. Don’t leave once the sun sets, though—Terrazza 241, the cool bar adjacent to the pool, buzzes in the evening as guests tuck into light bites, like bruschetta, cheese, fried shrimp and olives. The bartenders will likely be slinging one Aperol spritz after the next, but don’t be fooled: These skillful mixologists understand the fine art of the cocktail, and are all too keen to prove it when a guest orders one of the menu’s more creative offerings (like the smoked negroni or espresso martini). Expect a strong, flavorful tipple garnished to perfection.

As for accommodations, do yourself a favor and settle into one of the Hilton Lake Como’s duplex suites. An A-frame of skylights crowns the cozy bed, letting guests stargaze as they drift off to sleep and catch a glimpse of the lake as soon as they wake. The bathroom feels like your own private spa, with a whirlpool tub built for two, a cavernous shower, a mirror spanning the length of the wall, tons of light and counter space galore. The suites also have downstairs living rooms that, if you look closely, feature charming boutique-style decor. Case in point: A variety of men’s shirt collars floating inside an artsy glass case—a quirky nod to fashion-forward Milan, just an hour away.
The serene atmosphere of Lake Como itself can work wonders to relieve stress. But should you need just a little extra boost of relaxation, book an appointment at the Eforea Spa at the Hilton. It offers a range of treatments for the face and body, including a freestyle massage that’s custom-tailored to ease any tension in back, neck or shoulders. Spend some extra time after your treatment exploring the amenities at the spa—it’s got a steam room, sauna and bubble pool with therapeutic jets that work together to induce a full-blown state of bliss.
While the rooftop infinity pool is something you’ll instantly lust over, the fine service, beautiful design and special touches around the Hilton Lake Como will leave you with a lingering fondness for this property that you’ll feel long after you’ve returned home.
