After hosting the Golden State Warriors for a back-to-back at home, the San Antonio Spurs head out on the annual Rodeo Road Trip. Despite that fact that the Rodeo is not taking place in the AT&T Center (it will be next door in the old school Freeman Coliseum) the property will still be overrun with country music bands, carnival rides, and the best livestock show this side of the Pecos.
So the Spurs should be heading out by now to be in Atlanta in time to clip the wings of Hawks this Friday before heading to Charlotte to smack the Hornets on Valentine’s Day. They’ll then roll into Detroit to crack the Pistons on February 16.
On the second night of a back-to-back (SEGABABA), the Spurs plan to joust the Cavaliers in Cleveland before heading to the East Coast to play in New York at Madison Square Garden on February 20. (I have no witty verbiage as a knickerbocker is a goofy-looking pantaloon).
On February 22nd they race past the Pacers in Indianapolis before closing out the Rodeo Road Trip on February 24 in Oklahoma City as they calm the Thunder.
Extensive bags must be packed as 3,861 miles will be traveled and there is not a lot of field trip time for shopping. But as Pop has said in the past, this is when the team gels and really grows as a unit, possibly even more so when you consider how isolated the players and staff will be due to the pandemic.
The Spurs return on February 27th to host the Pelicans. Hopefully some of us will be able to attend in person by then.
And away they Go Spurs Go!
